Why go?

1. For the glory of God!

- We see in the culmination of all things in Rev. 7:9 

- missions exist because worship doesn't

- God is about the worship of all people. It is not limited to Israel 

   - Abraham blessed to be a blessing ("through him all nations would be blessed") Gen 12:1-3

- God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us; Selah. That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations. Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah. Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us. God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear him. (Psalm 67:1-7 KJV)

- Our hearts are to beat with God's heart. God has challenged us through his word to see his heart for all people. Not just for our neighbor next door, but also the Thai buddhist. 

- Jesus started his disciples on the missionary journey that would ultimately end at the ends of the earth 

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judæa, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. (Acts 1:8 KJV)

2. To know him and serve him! 

Whatever the cost may be we will serve him. 

We have been called to put our hand to the plow. We say Yes to whatever God is calling us to because he cares for us.

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. (Matthew 11:28-30 KJV)

3. We have been equipped by God

He has led us on a journey to prepare us for us to carry out his will for our life. 

- the last 3 years of living in the city has been a training ground for us. God has taught us so much.

    Continual teaching on the importance of God's word and prayer 

    Time spent  learning another culture

    Submitting ourselves to the authority of the church

    Learning how to ask questions and be a learner cross-culturally 

   

4. The team (Missions in community) 

- we are called to live in community

- we trust Christ working in  Hatley and Christy and their hearts to be obedient to God

- they want to invest in us as a couple

- Steven and Lauren - Steven and I have been best friends and have even been business partners.

5. We believe in the Vision of GEI

6. It is an opportunity to exercise our faith

Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. (2 Corinthians 5:6-10 KJV)

7. God continues to open the door

8. God has kept us mobile  and debt free

- we owe no man anything

- we own very few possessions

- God has kept us from owning a house even when we thought that maybe we should buy. 

9. Our children will learn from our example

We want to impart to our children the Gospel!

10. God has given us peace! A confidence in him to complete the work that he has begun in us. 

When you have peace can you doing anything else, but be obedient. 

We have come to a place that to say no to God at this point would be an act of disobedience and would leave us with regrets. 

No believer ends their live wishing they would have given less energy, time, and resources to  the Gospel
